Nearly a year has passed since the Clone Wars officially ended…

Palpatine speech

Former Supreme Chancellor Palpatine used the Jedi Rebellion to issue the “Declaration of a New Order” and declared himself Emperor of the Galaxy, replacing the Galactic Republic with the Galactic Empire. With the rise of this new Empire, all the institutions of the old Republic found themselves either dismantled or modified beyond recognition. Many planets under the new Empire enthusiastically supported the vision outlined in the Declaration of a New Order, largely due to the violence and death of their people that had plagued the galaxy for so long during the war.

Imperial city

There was a riot of renaming all things “Imperial” to glorify the new Emperor: overnight, the Coruscant Sector was renamed the Imperial Sector, Coruscant itself was renamed Imperial Center, and Galactic City was renamed Imperial City. The Galactic Senate became the Imperial Senate. The Grand Army of the Republic and the Republic Navy became the Imperial Army and the Imperial Navy repectivley. Within days, there were few names left to remind the people that there had ever been a Galactic Republic.

Jedi rebellion

After their violent attempt to take control of the Galactic Senate, the Jedi were labeled as war criminals and the GAR (Grand Army of the Republic) was tasked with bringing them all to justice. The mysticism and secrecy of the Jedi Order quickly transformed into seclusion and indoctrination in the public eye. Stories of child abduction, reckless vigilantism, brainwashing, conspiracy, and even assassinations have begun to circulate throughout the galaxy. The very belief structure in the Force is now eroding to near-extinction. With Anti-Jedi propaganda littering walkways and paranoia culling posters claiming “They Walk Among Us” and “They Could Be Anywhere” the general perception of the ancient sect grew ever darker.

Great rewards are rumored to be granted to those who report Force-Users, Jedis, or Jedi Sympathizers. Some civilians have been reported going to great lengths to fabricate claims, or falsely accuse in order to win favor with the new Empire. Though eye-witness reports of Force-Users or Jedis have been minimal the general paranoia has anyone seeking to show their allegiance to the new regime chomping at the bit to turn someone, something, anything over to the authorities. Additionally, rumors circulate about the Emperor ordering a “cleansing” against dissidents both within the government of the Empire and amongst civilians. Of the most notable were the Old Republic officers who hadn’t been “receptive to the new regime”. The Emperor’s first purge of the Imperial Navy occurred within just two weeks into the new rule. Adding more tension to these rumors was the inclusion of the Emperor’s vicious and mysterious Second-in-Command “Darth Vader” and his personal brigade, the 501st, also known as “Vader’s Fist”.

Streets of imperial city

Despite the underlying anxiety, most words have started to normalize in the post-war galaxy. Businesses have reopened, citizens are vacationing, governments are reforming, cities are rebuilding, everyone is attempting to push past the turmoil and get back to their day-to-day existence. With the threat of warfare quelled, civilians yearn for the mundane…
